Harnessing Molecular Engineering and Sciences for Impact

November 14, 2013

In this lecture Dr. Carol Dahl provides an overview of the advances in human genome sequencing, nanoscale devices, and synthetic biology over the last 30 years that have set the stage for current molecular engineering and sciences research. She outlines the opportunities and societal challenges for molecular engineering research and draws on her broad experience working for the NIH, the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, Biospect Inc. (now Pathworks Diagnostics), and The Lemelson Foundation to provide perspective on what it takes to have translational impact on the molecular level.
