Sensing, Understanding and Adapting

November 13, 2013

This talk will provide an overview of the Intel Science and Technology Center for Pervasive Computing (ISTC-PC) and will highlight the center’s research themes and application areas that will help drive the next generation of pervasive and ubiquitous computing. For the past 20 years, the pervasive and ubiquitous computing community has developed technology that allows sensing, computing, and wireless communication to be embedded in everyday objects, enabling a range of context-aware applications. These apps and technologies embedded in smart phones, cars, etc. are changing the way people are experiencing computing but even more is possible. Future systems will support applications that have much deeper awareness of users and their activities, context, and goals and will be able to learn and adapt continuously to user’s habits, routines, and preferences. Hear how the Intel Science and Technology Center for Pervasive Computing (ISTC-PC) is helping to instantiate this vision.
